Conscious Postpartum Caregiving

What is it? Why does it make a difference?

The first 42-days postpartum is a monumental time for both birther & baby. Historically, this has been a sacred time for the birther to heal, process all the recent physical & emotional changes, and bond with their baby. To help aid with recovery and welcome the birther into parenthood, loved ones would prepare food and special care treatments, giving the new mother time to rest. You just gave birth to a human — you definitely earned a nap!

Our modern society invites families to participate in birth classes and it is common to create a birth plan for your labor & delivery. But what about when you bring baby home? Making a plan to care for yourself and your little one postpartum is an essential extension to this thoroughly planned journey of bringing your baby earth-side. A healthy life begins right at the beginning, with you two sorting through this brand new adventure, together.

The concept of postpartum care is as ancient as birth itself. We have the power to bring postpartum wellness into our modern healthcare model, one brave and powerful birther at a time.

“Meg came to my house the day I got home from the hospital to offer her support and wisdom. Meg cooked me meals, made me hot tea and supported me when my milk came in. I recently turned to Meg again 8 months later when I thought about weaning my son from my breast. She informed me on the benefits that both me and my son get through breastfeeding and supported my breastfeeding journey when I came to terms that neither me or my son were ready to wean.”
